Favourites

Everybody has their favourite rituals, products, hotels and airlines when they travel and I am no different, so below are a few of my favourite things - a list that will keep on growing the more I travel.  Please note these are personal favourites only, and Travelling Divas has not received payment to promote the following:

Airlines:

Korean Air:  I fly Korean every year when I go to Europe so long as they fit my itinerary.  I like the food, the service, Seoul airport is easy to navigate and very efficient, and the price for the product is extremely good value for money.  They also sell Creme de la Mer at a very good price!  www.koreanair.com

British Airways:  Admittedly I used to work for BA and  have a big soft spot for them.  Terminal 5 in London is amazing and so are the lounge pavilions.   Economy is ok,  but if you are flying up the front then I think they do it well. www.britishairways.com

Virgin Atlantic:  The Clubhouse in Terminal 3 - what more can I say!  My experience is that they have good crew, which means that even if the seats aren't the most comfortable in the world, a good crew can make up for it!  www.virgin-atlantic.com

Hotels:

The Observatory Hotel in Sydney is my favourite hotel in this gorgeous city.  Sitting just above the Rocks in Kent Street, it is centrally located without being in amongst all of the hectic pace of the city.  The staff are fabulous, the spa and swimming pool are totally divine, and the rooms are enormous.  High tea is a must!

Hotel-on-Rivington in New York is great.  It is in the LES, still up and coming, but it is funky, the bar is great and they just know how to look after you.  In warmer months the roof top bar is gorgeous!  www.hotelonrivington.com

In London I have a couple of hotels I love, and depending on my budget, it dictates which one I love more!  The Stafford in St. James's when you are feeling flush with cash or just want to spoil someone special, offers the quintessential English luxury hotel, with outstanding service and a bar that is run by the divine Ben!  It feels more like a large country house in the middle of London, and I really love that feeling.  Alternatively, if you really want to be in amongst it and stay in a gorgeous, eccentric hotel, then Hazlitt's in Soho is the place.  If you don't mind crooked stairs and quirky layouts, a great honesty bar and floors that slope slightly in some spots, this group of Georgian Houses from 1718 is the right spot for you.  I love it.

In Bali I am a big fan of the Orient Express Hotels - particularly Puri Jimbaran Bay.  Luxurious without pretence, right on the beach and the staff are gorgeous.  Don't expect snappy service, this is laid back hospitality.  If you can upgrade into the private villas, with your own butler service, it is worth it!
